Christmas Eve Dinner Feast

My family and I have always had the tradition of having a lunch buffet in a nice hotel on Christmas Eve (read: 2014 and 2013), but this year, I was working so we didn't book a place in the end. I was working full time last year too, but we had a complimentary day off. Wasn't as lucky this year, haha! Instead, we decided to have a home cooked feast that I returned to after work, which turned out equally as delicious! Note: Photo doesn't include all of the food we had!

So My Mum's New Hobby Is Baking...

I've actually forgotten how long it has been since my Mum began baking. Two years? Three years? She began taking lessons in bread and cake making and still does, but she bakes a lot in her own time too so we're never out of pastries at home. In fact, we constantly have a surplus of baked goods and we find it difficult to finish everything, especially since we only have three people living in our immediate household. My Mum gets really upset if the food is good but goes to waste, so she tries to give her creations away to family and friends as much as possible. Let me know if you ever want to taste her baking, she'd be glad to share (and super happy to have the opportunity to bake more)!

Note: I'm only posting the aesthetically pleasing photos here - Mum actually made a lot more bread and cakes, but since I only obtain these photos through her Whatsapp messages, the "nicer" pictures (well, in my opinion anyway) are somewhat limited by her photography skills. Ha ha, sorry, but it's the truth and you guys know I'm anal (pardon me) about these things!

#charmycooks2015

Unexpectedly, I got into cooking recently! Truth be told, I'm lazy as heck and I'm not doing this because I want to be more healthy (well, it's a nice side consequence of cooking) or to save money... I know, I know, those are the proper reasons for why I should be cooking, LOL. But hey, I'm honest, and you guys know it. The real reason why I began cooking and actually enjoying it - except for doing the dishes, of course - is because I want to take nice pictures for Instagram. Didn't expect that, did ya? Check out the #charmycooks hashtag on my Instagram account! The thing, though, is that I only put the most photogenic pictures on there, so the readers of this blog actually get to see more! If you're reading this, then congratulations, you're one of those awesome people! :)

Jason's Birthday Cooking 2015

So since cooking for my Dad for his birthday turned out to be a success and I was starting to enjoy making food, I decided to do the same for Jason's birthday. My parents were super kind to make themselves scarce so I could have a private dinner at home with Jason, which was so nice of them! I made bacon-wrapped green beans and a vegetable stir-fry... Chinese style and all, which is Jason's favourite! My Mum actually made the soup (and she helped me with the two main dishes too), so I can't take credit for that, the cake was from Italian Tomato and the chocolates obviously from agnès b. délices. But yeah - Jason loved his "present"! :)

Dad's Birthday Cooking 2015

I cooked! I know, I know... aren't you shocked? This year for my Dad's birthday, I actually surprised him with a homemade late lunch. I made an all-day breakfast! Okay, so it doesn't really require cooking so to say except for the sausage and bacon which I simply just shoved in the oven - but hey, I'd say the scrambled eggs were quite amazing! It was my first time making them and in my opinion, I was successful as hell. ;)

Homemade Pizza at Whitney's!

The N's Girls "see lai"s cook once again! On the recipe today: pizza! I have no idea who wanted to make pizza but we'd been talking about having a cooking day for what seems like forever, so we finally went over to Whitney's to fulfil our goal! We spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen and had a movie dinner... well it was supposed to be a movie dinner but Whitney couldn't work the TV so we just ended up watching some travel program on TVB. But on the menu was... *drumroll* pizza, salad, cake and ice cream! Yes, we even made the ice cream!
