AIA Electric Run Hong Kong 2014

After taking pictures with my paternal grandparents at the Graduation Carnival, I had to quickly get ready for the AIA Electric Run Hong Kong 2014. It took place at the New Central Harbourfront, which is super close to my university, but since I was stupid and forgetful, I'd actually left my running gear at home and had to make a detour back through the heavy traffic to fetch my stuff. Because of this, I missed dinner with my friends and had to quickly shove a bowl of rice down my throat when I got home and consequentially ended up being super late for the event.

Which, let me tell you, actually didn't matter in the end.

Because the event itself was so stupid =.= I'm sorry for the harsh words, but I honestly felt it was overrated and it completely did not live up to the hype. Not to mention, it was pricey too. The run was advertised as a 5km track but we were all pretty sure the grounds did not even total 1km. All they offered us in the included package was a tshirt and a cheap rubber ring (which flashed, woop-de-doop, big deal) - we even had to get glow sticks ourselves. We thought the closing party in the end would make up for the dopey inflated decorations around the 1km track but that too sucked. In our opinions at least. The music was shitty and repetitive and we had to rev up the excitement ourselves.

I actually saw some Instagram posts from other people raving on about how awesome the run was, so maybe it was just me and my friends? Then again, people tend to make things sound a lot better than they actually are, especially on Instagram, so I don't know. Here are the photos from the night anyway!

It Already Feels Like Winter...

What happened? Did we skip fall and head straight to winter?

So the beginning of November marks a new chapter in my life (lol there are so many new chapters) because my Nutrition classes at HKUSPACE have started! And for some reason, the weather in Hong Kong has been super cold lately, which makes me wonder if fall ever came at all. Or maybe it's just me, because I've never been able to stand the cold?

Anyway, the photos in this blog post were taken over a Friday and Saturday in November. Both days included HKUSPACE Nutrition classes. I know, how depressing, sometimes I have class three times a week... including weekends. On Friday we had our Year-out Welcome Lunch at work and at night I went to a joint-firm Year-out gathering at Where Bar & Lounge after Nutrition class. Then the following Saturday, I went to Nutrition class again (despite the late night before) and explored the Oil Street Art Space, which is right across from where I usually have my classes in Fortress Hill.

And yes, I am wearing the same outfit two days in a row. YOLO.

Halloween 2014

As predicted, my Halloween this year didn't top 2012's night in Shanghai during my exchange (I doubt anything will ever top that night, to be honest). I think it was just slightly better than last year's Halloween, which was already pretty fail, so... anyway, it's not like I mind or anything, because I'm not a partier. In fact, it was super difficult to muster up my energy to even go out at all that night. I went home to drop my stuff off and to change after work first, and y'know, once you're comfortably home, you really don't want to move again (or is that just me?).

I attempted to line up to get into Lan Kwai Fong where Maisie and Whitney were (they arrived slightly earlier), but the crowd was so huge I could barely even back out, never mind get in. Literally felt like I couldn't breathe inside the ocean of partiers. In the end, I just gave up and walked all the way to PMQ to meet up with Clar like we'd originally planned. No clubbing for us! We ended up having a chill night out wandering the streets of Sheung Wan all dressed up. xD

(Not that I was really dressed up. My "costume" was so last minute and so boring compared to the other people on the streets. 0 for effort, tsk tsk.)

Halloween 2013

This year's halloween celebrations sucked in comparison to last year's in Shanghai. Well, I don't think anything can be compared to the hardcore-ness of halloween 2012, but still. If last year was awesomely insane, then this year was just the opposite - a complete anticlimax.

I guess for starters, we weren't really planning to go out to celebrate, so we didn't plan costumes, cos we were soooo busy with school work. It was a completely last minute thing. I even went home for dinner before deciding to go out again lol. And because we didn't plan the night, we just went to Lan Kwai Fong and OBVIOUSLY that plan was a failure because it was packed, we couldn't get into any clubs and we spent the majority of the time shivering on the streets, waiting in line.

I left super early... like at 12AM? HAHAHAHA what a joke. Since nothing was happening anyway and we'd been everywhere already, I made my mind up to catch the last MTR train home LOL.

But here are some pics anyway of our not-bothered costumes... if you can call them costumes wtf. Try and guess what we were dressing up as (I'm easy but not the others - hey! It means my costume was the best! LOL!)
