This year, I'd planned to finally go. I even arranged all the dates with Clar and got my student ticket early. But a few nights before the event, she told me she wasn't free. And mind you, the tickets weren't fucking cheap. Jason was nice enough to offer to go with me, but I had to go through the whole process of contacting random people to buy last-minute tickets off them for a fair price. I did it though, and in the end we had a great outdoors date filled with activities, music and food!

Clockenflap 2015
When I started my Architecture degree, I found out about Clockenflap, an annual music festival in Hong Kong. I didn't go in my first year... my second year... my third year... my year-out... I remember how I thought that I could finally go last year since I was working and not swamped by design final anymore. But I ended up not going, because I had driving lessons and Nutrition class and everything... I only went to their Miniflap preview event in PMQ.

Boomshack at Tong Chong Street Market
Remember Island East Markets? I'd been waiting for its return, but despite its name, Swire Properties saw its success, decided to kick it out (they had to move to an indoor place in Mong Kok) and introduce a new market that they co-hosted. Well, this is how business works, I suppose. Tong Chong Street is a really good location for a Sunday market, especially for me since I live just a ten minute walk from it.
I basically went to every single week of the Tong Chong Street Market since its introduction this autumn, but I didn't take any pictures. And I feel so mean saying this but... I like it more than Island East Markets, simply because its all focused on food - groceries and products and well-known eateries that cook you their signature dishes on the spot. One particular Sunday Jason and I decided to get food from the stalls and have a picnic at Via Fiori. We tried Boomshack's fried chicken waffle burger!
Afterwards, we went to Oi! Street Art Space so I could do some interviews for a writing assignment. We ended the night with dinner at Applegreen in Tsim Sha Tsui - out of the way, but I really craved it that day!

Vegfest 2015
First things first: I am not vegetarian. Not even in the slightest bit. All my friends joke about how I love eating chicken breast, especially when it's not juicy... yes, some of us actually like tasteless, dried up grilled chicken! And while I don't eat red meat that often, I actually don't mind it too much. I don't think I could ever be vegetarian. I even tried to watch documentaries showing suffering animals and the conclusion I got out of them was: I am a heartless, compassionless bitch.
However, I do really like healthy foods and products, so actually Vegfest 2015 was an event I was super interested in! It wasn't held at a convenient location as well. It was out of the way in Hong Kong Adventist Academy in Clear Water Bay, which doesn't have an MTR station and reaching there requires other forms of transport. I still went, so yeah, you can imagine how enthusiastic I was about it. Unlike all the expat-y Facebook events, all Vegfest had was a half-broken website in Chinese, so you can't blame me for doubting it at first, especially when I got to the shuttle bus stop and it was lined up with elderly people. It got worse when the shuttle bus arrived and a bus-load of old people climbed off, talking about how bad it was. I almost felt sorry for Jason, who I'd dragged along and was shooting pleading looks at me as if to say: do we have to go?
Well, it turned out pretty nice! I actually enjoyed the sun, there was plenty of food and products on offer and activities to keep you busy. The only annoying thing was a woman being super preachy with me about eating meat, but other than that it was a really good day.

Freespace Happening October 2015
You know, I think I've actually been to every single Freespace Happening since its first one in August (click here for my post on it!). It's monthly, but I didn't post about September's instalment on this blog because I actually went with my DSLR and took ~*professional*~ photos for my Photojournalism class! I posted the pictures on my portfolio Wordpress, so click here to check them out if you're interested. You know, for someone who is using a DSLR for the first time in her life - and not on the automatic mode, you smart alec - I think I'm pretty damn good. ;)
Like the previous times, this month's Freespace Happening was in West Kowloon Cultural District. Since I hadn't picnicked there yet, Jason and I decided to do just that this time. Um, big mistake. I dressed like it was Autumn and the weather that day decided to turn out damp, dreary and worst of all, cold. But whatever works for nice photos, amirite?

Instagram Pier
Yes, there's actually a location tag in Hong Kong called Instagram Pier. Just to let you know, that's not its official name, it was just nicknamed as such because people (a.k.a. Instagram-using-youngsters-like-me) keep going there to take orgasmic Instagram-worthy pictures. I'd wanted to go for the longest time, but held it off when I had a full time job because it's super crowded during the weekends and I wanted my pictures to be perfect. So during a summer (well, it's still summer in November in Hong Kong) weekday, before Jason started his full time job and before I began school, we went! We ended the night at Jumpin' Gym, hence last random picture.

Chiu Kee Porcelain in Peng Chau
One weekday afternoon, my family and I decided to go to one of the outlying islands of Hong Kong. My Mum went ahead and chose Peng Chau because she'd been there once and said it was peaceful. Peng Chau isn't really a tourist spot like the other islands (I'm talking about you, Cheung Chau!), and honestly, nothing goes on there. It used to be an industrial powerhouse years back but now it's mainly just for living.
Either way, we walked around the island, enjoying the good weather, and I stumbled upon a hidden gem by the name of Chiu Kee Porcelain! Actually, I'd seen it once, many months ago, on my Instagram feed. The owner of the store offers "workshops" for painting ceramics, and I'd been meaning to get into pottery for a long time. I had a choice between a cup, a bowl and a plate, and I chose the last. 'Twas fun! :)
