JCCAC's Big Draw Event 2014

It's autumn, meaning that it's festival galore in Hong Kong! Event after event, many of them open and free to the public, has been popping up city-wide. These events are especially right for me because they're all to do with art, culture, and music! But like I mentioned in a previous blog post, there was too much to attend and simply not enough free time - especially as I had appointments and celebrations and lessons. I wasn't going to go to JCCAC's Big Draw event initially, actually, because I had a driving lesson smack right in the middle of the afternoon that Saturday... but my instructor called me the night before, miraculously announcing that he was busy and so we had to cancel or postpone the lesson. So I quickly texted Clar asking if she was still up to a little bit of art... and she was!

We met up after lunch time at Shek Kip Mei's JCCAC. Neither of us really knew what the Big Draw event entailed because their website wasn't very clear, but it was basically what we'd predicted. Live drawing sessions in the peaceful, outdoor setting of JCCAC's central courtyard (here I go using architectural terms, hah!).

A Look at Occupy Central (Umbrella Revolution)

Am very tempted to create a new blog label for this post: politics. But then this would probably be the only post on my blog under that label, and even so, I'm just basically uploading pictures haha. I'm not familiar with politics but I've been following the Occupy Central protests very closely, reading the news and watching the news every single day on it. The people of Hong Kong who have participated in it... including many of my friends... add oil!

I guess whilst the "highlight" of the day was visiting the site of the Umbrella Revolution in Admiralty, where just not long ago I had a picnic feast, my Sunday was actually a family day (although I did have a driving lesson in the afternoon) so this entry will include some food and outfit pictures as well.

Let me just professionally begin this serious blog post with a toilet selfie.

Huge Homemade Korean Feast

The first of October was National Day in Hong Kong, which is a public holiday here. The archians and I had been talking about having a Korean cookout for a long time, so we decided to do just that at Ting's on that day! Unfortunately (or fortunately for everyone's health and tastebuds), I couldn't make it in the afternoon to actually do any of the cooking because I had a driving lesson on that day. So I just joined them at around 5PM to eat, skipping all the hard work. Hey, it wasn't on purpose! :P

After our huge homecooked dinner, where we had tons of leftover food because entirely too much food had been prepared (as usual), we shared a cab to Elements Mall to watch The Maze Runner. It was incredible and a very satisfying end to the day, even though we had to buy adult movie tickets now as our students cards had expired (sad times).
