A Series of Fails

I officially grant myself the teenage failure award, because for some reason, I am SUCH a fail-queen. I guess that's why when I entered Year 1, I was handpicked out of my whole year group to be part of the secret "rubbish" group in HKU Architecture. Out of 40 girls, I was one of the two chosen girls. I can truly see why now.

This post is somewhat overdue but here is a series of fails I've experienced in the past week.

1. Dropping my Dad's birthday cupcakes

For my Dad's birthday, I decided to go all the way to Wanchai/Admiralty to buy Sift Cupcakes for him. Partly because our family of three couldn't possibly finish one whole birthday cake anyway and partly because I've always wanted to try Sift's cupcakes LOL. It's been on my to-do list for as long as I can freakin' remember, like since high school or something, so I took this opportunity as an excuse for a tasting session of their cakes ;)

Anyway if you've been to the Sift in Wanchai, you'll know that it's nowhere near the MTR station. It's actually closer to the Admiralty MTR, but the exit you take, you have to walk like 15+ minutes to get there. So blah blah blah I ventured over to the cupcake store from home, bought two cakes, then carried everything back home. The whole journey took like 1 hour 30 minutes or MORE. I think nearly 2 hours!!!

I got home with the cupcakes safe and sound, and decided to selfcam with them because they were oh-so-pretty and my parents weren't home yet anyway. So I opened the box and opened Photobooth on my computer and snapped away. After a gazillion selfcams, all was well.

I took one last look at the cupcakes and closed the box.

But then I remember I didn't take pictures of JUST the cupcakes, so I reopened the box and snapped a few quick shots with my iphone. And that's when it happened.

When I was done with my photos, I put down my iphone and went ahead to close the box again - when somehow, my hands knocked the box flying -_-

Everything dropped.

S P L A T.

Luckily the cupcakes remained INSIDE the box. Unluckily, they were squashed.

...

I remember staring at the mess on the floor in shock. I sat quite still for about my minute, as my shock melted into panic. Then the doorbell rang. My parents were home. -.-

I had to shout "Happy birthday!" to my Dad then present him with squashed cupcakes :( At least they still tasted nice!

2. Dropping my salad

I am a repeat offender.

I say that because the very next day of my dropping of my Dad's cupcakes, I went to school to buy a salad to eat for lunch. The salad itself was quite shit and bland and boring, just a chicken caesar salad from Pacific Coffee. Nothing special. Actually it tasted quite horrid.

But anyway. I really like chicken, especially chicken breast / the kind of chicken that is so dry and rough like all water is sucked out of it. Don't ask me why, I just REALLY like my chicken that way. The drier, the better. I hate juicy chicken!

I ate the salad as I usually do... I save the best for last. In this case, it was the chicken, of course. So I ate all the greens begrudgingly and rather quickly too, because I was in a rush as I had to meet someone, if I remember correctly.

Anyway that someone came into the studio to find me (who they are is irrelevant lol) and upon seeming them, I waved and...

Dropped my salad.

With all the meaty goodness, the best part that I had been painstakingly saving for last. :(

It wasn't JUST the chicken meat as well, it was also the tastier veggies like the cherry tomatoes, the eggs, the carrots... y'know. Anything apart from the leafy greens (and I hadn't finished THOSE too, so what a waste!).

I proceeded to swear and throw a tantrum. I was really, really pissed off. I don't even know why LOL cos obviously it wasn't the end of the world or anything, but at that moment I really wanted to eat my chicken.

In the end I went downstairs to Starbucks to get another salad (a meatless one this time, boohoo), thus wasting tons of money because salads aren't cheap despite the student discount in HKU.

3. Getting chickenpox on the day of my Mum's birthday

Just exactly one week after my Dad's birthday, was my Mum's birthday. I was as last minute as ever - the night before I still hadn't prepped her present (AND I had no idea what to get her because I'd already used my "great parent present" idea for my Dad one week ago... fail) and I went out. I'm a bad, bad daughter, I know. :( I'm also a bad girlfriend because I went out to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with him... five days after his actual birthday. LOL.

Anyway, I went home on Saturday night and decided to miss the HKU Architecture annual overnight movie night (Archinite) because I wanted to sleep and shower. And whilst I was showering, I noticed a lot of red dots all over my body.

A few nights ago a "pimple" had popped up on my chest, and I'd popped it a few times. I noticed it had swelled up to like, ten times its size and no longer resembled a pimple, but rather, a water bubble. It was quite gross. It looked infected.

I thought about what I'd been eating the past week that might be causing a pimple breakout. Nothing out of ordinary, maybe perhaps a few more plums than usual? (I eat like 3 plums a day LOL) But then, I've been binging on plums since the beginning of time so it couldn't be it.

I looked at the huge water bubble on my chest. Then I looked at the multiple red dots all over my body. And slowly, my mind made the connection.

I might write a full blog post about my chickenpox (when and if I have time, which is probably a no lolol) so I don't want to go into too much detail, but the ending of this story goes like this: My Mum had to bring me to the doctor's on the morning of her birthday. Then we spent the rest of the day at home because my chickenpox began spreading, spreading, spreading like crazy for the rest of the day.

4. Mum finding her birthday cake in the fridge

After seeing the doctor, my Mum told me to go home to rest and take my medicine while she went grocery shopping. I was halfway home when I decided to go back downstairs and get my Mum her birthday cake to surprise her. After much sweating because the chickenpox virus was beginning to take its toll on me, I got home all gross and vile, but successfully with cakes from Arome Bakery.

Anyway I stuffed the box in the fridge, trying to move it to the back so that it wouldn't be too obvious when my mum came home with the groceries and inevitably opens the fridge.

Obviously she found the cake. Sigh.

Should've just told my Dad to get them when he returned from work a little later, saving me money, time and energy lol. But I really wanted to make it up to my Mum for getting chickenpox on her birthday by buying the cake myself.

Cue, "awww, you're such a good daughter!"

I know I am. Somewhat.

Red Hair

LOL can't believe I'm typing this post like three months after dyeing my hair red?! The colour's all faded off now, I'm left with a bit of reddish tint at the top of my head and a horrible light brown colour in the middle and tips of my hair... sigh!

I don't know whether I should go back to red (I LOVED it!) or back to black. I really, really liked having red hair and everyone said it suited me really well but it's just too high maintenance. I didn't really like washing my hair once every three days and with cold water as well... I'm always cold so showering with cold water is a big no-no. I mean, during the summer I can stand the cold but it's already autumn... :S

EDIT: More red hair photos!
(Because I want to organise everything into one post, lol)

Cherry's 20th Birthday at Fleur de Sel

Another N's Girl's birthday has come! Starting this entry with the funniest ever picture of Cherry and me, checking out each other's boobs ;) woops our true sexual orientation revealed HAHA!

It was just another day at the studio - a very busy one too, I must say, because we had design the next day and we were suddenly stuffed with an extra viscom lesson at night (they notified us about it that morning! Thank you HKU Architecture) and an extra history tutorial the next morning. How sad, and the semester had only just begun... so we didn't really celebrate much. But oh well.

Photos above: Blew out the birthday candles, sang a birthday song, yadda yadda the usual birthday stuff... we were gonna have a nice dinner at Fleur de Sel but because the random viscom lesson suddenly bounced in, suddenly we had to rush everything... the class was supposed to start at 7pm, which meant that we needed to eat dinner at 5:30pm or 6pm, so we weren't even hungry. =.=

The waiter kept asking us if we wanted to order more food, but we couldn't possibility stuff another crepe down our throats after a late lunch and a birthday cake. Still, the bill amounted to nearly $500 for one starter salad, two crepes, one hot chocolate and three earl grey teas. Hmmm. Expensive to the max, but I guess the food was quite nice. :)

Hello Year Three!

Entry typed 6th September 2013

September 2nd marked the first day of my final year at HKU. The day I'd been dreading since even before my Year 2 final... and finally it's here. Back to the all nighters, the anxious sleepless nights. I'm not sure if I'm more scared or excited for this school year! Either way, it'll be a challenge I'll learn and grow from. Photos from the beginning of semester:

ASO 2012 Group 4 open sem rice at Katsuisen! It was great to see these peeps again! As for the sushi, I had sooo freaking much. And of course we ordered more non-sushi dishes as well but omg the grilled salmon nigiri. *drools*

N's Girl's lunch at Sinmei Tea! Missing Cherry who hates vegetarian food and green tea with a passion. And I somehow managed to miss out taking a picture of the tofu burger because we'd already dug into it before I remembered that the rule should always be: camera eats first.

Shabu shabu dinner at Gyujin in Causeway Bay.

Random lunch outing with the girls one September afternoon at Le Fauchon. We just randomly stumbled across the place. Umm the food wasn't that good tbh.

Ending this entry with two class photos of Archipelago, September 2013. Here's to a good year. Good luck to myself because I'll need it.
