Work:
The actual work I've been doing in the office is basically applying what I've learned in school to real life projects. It's nice to be able to lend my skills to use, and even nicer to learn new things on the way! There are so many things I don't know yet, and working at my current company gives me the opportunity to gain much needed experience.
Outfits:
Not much to say for this section actually - the dress code for where I work is rather free. My colleagues tend to dress more formally if they are going out for meetings or seeing clients - otherwise it's pretty laid back, which is just the way I like it! Of course, being a girl, I have to be relatively put-together... it's ingrained in me, haha. Here are two of my outfits for work - as you can see, they're even simpler than my outfits for the weekends!
Events:
One of the perks of working in a well-establised firm (lol I sound like I'm advertising for my company) is that we get a lot of events, meaning a lot of chances to get together and socialise with people in our workplace! I find that it's a great way to a) make new friends and b) to learn new things, because pretty much all of my colleagues are older and wiser and more experienced than me! These events have also meant that I'm forced (somewhat) out of my comfort anti-social zone, LOL.
Colleagues:
My team has been very welcoming to me, which I'm super grateful for because I'm naturally quite shy and an introvert and I hardly ever make the first move (I know, I know, something that I'm working on). Here are some pictures of the many team lunches we've had together, mostly on Fridays, haha. I guess the great thing about these lunches is that I've discovered many amazing eateries around the area. :)
Other:
The people I'm closest to in my workplace are actually the other Year-outs. I suppose birds of the same feather flock together everywhere, lol. It's nice to have people to eat lunch with on a daily basis, people who are on the same boat as me! Admittedly, my company hires many Year-outs from HKU, which means that most of my friends I've already known from school, but there are plenty of other kids from other universities as well. I'm really really grateful to have them - they're sort of like a comfort blanket in a new terrain haha. (My God, the amount of idioms I've used in this paragraph...)
