Either way, we walked around the island, enjoying the good weather, and I stumbled upon a hidden gem by the name of Chiu Kee Porcelain! Actually, I'd seen it once, many months ago, on my Instagram feed. The owner of the store offers "workshops" for painting ceramics, and I'd been meaning to get into pottery for a long time. I had a choice between a cup, a bowl and a plate, and I chose the last. 'Twas fun! :)

Chiu Kee Porcelain in Peng Chau
One weekday afternoon, my family and I decided to go to one of the outlying islands of Hong Kong. My Mum went ahead and chose Peng Chau because she'd been there once and said it was peaceful. Peng Chau isn't really a tourist spot like the other islands (I'm talking about you, Cheung Chau!), and honestly, nothing goes on there. It used to be an industrial powerhouse years back but now it's mainly just for living.

Sift Dessert Bar's Afternoon Tea
A few months ago, Sassy Hong Kong offered a 50% discount off of Sift Dessert Bar's Afternoon Tea Set which I'd wanted to try forever. Let me just start by saying that I absolutely adore Sift's cupcakes. I haven't tried many brands in Hong Kong but Sift has definitely been the best one so far for me. I love sweet, heavy and moist desserts (the fattier, the better!), and the afternoon tea would allow me to taste a little bit of everything - not just their cupcakes, but also their other desserts including macarons! The original price wasn't too bad already, but half off? I bought two sets right away.
Fast forward some time and I finally made plans with the girls for the afternoon tea. We even shared between five people, so the total price for one actually only came to $84HKD! On the day, I dominated the eating scene. While the others found the desserts too sweet... lol I finished all but one of the macarons, okay. It's obvious who the fattest pig out of all of us is...

DisneyLive! in Hong Kong 2015: Mickey's Musical Festival
Well, you know me, being the Disney freak I am and having missed my free show of Disney on Ice in Macau all the way back in my high school years, I have to grab even the smallest of Disney live shows in Hong Kong now. Jason and I found out about DisneyLive! in Hong Kong 2015: Mickey's Musical Festival like two months ago, and we scrambled to buy tickets right away. It was really nice of him to accompany me, I'm really grateful. The theatre was filled with families and kids! Would be so nice to bring my family to a Friday night show like this after work... such a warm feeling.

Me and My Facebook Competitions...
My friends all know that I am a major #cheapass and basically hella stingy with money, so it's no wonder that I join tons of Facebook and Instagram competitions. In the beginning, I was careful to only take part in ones that only required a like and a comment, and nothing that I had to post to my own profile. Over time, though, I got more ambitious and less shameful lol, so I even started entering competitions where I had to share the post publicly on my own profile. I know, embarrassing as fuuu, but hey, a cheapskate's gotta do what she's gotta do!
The last time I won something was from Tim Tam Hong Kong - a Tim Tam cushion and a huge box of the chocolates that fattened me up nicely. I've won a few small ones in between but nothing really worth mentioning, stuff like $50 cash coupons for Muji or whatever.
Then in August I entered Eslite Hong Kong's "Treasure in the Book" competition and won a $200 cash coupon! It was definitely the best gift I've won so far because I love reading (didn't expect that, did ya?) so I redeemed three books from it. Namely, "Gone Girl" and "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn and "Examined Life: How We Lose and Find Ourselves" by Stephen Grosz. Can't wait to get started on them! :)

Weekday Lunch Buffet at The Luxe Seafood Bar & Resto
Mum and I have been going to Tsim Sha Tsui quite frequently this summer for my mole removal surgery (yes, finally getting rid of that stupid thing above my upper lip which resembles a booger in photos), so since we had to spend extra transport money to cross the harbour to the Kowloon side anyway, we started checking out restaurants in the area. One day, we stumbled across The Luxe Seafood Bar & Resto in iSquare. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner buffets for a hella cheap price. I think it was like, $108HKD for a weekday lunch buffet? And you know our family, we love our buffets, so Mum and I did not hesitate to try it out. Obviously for the price the food quality wasn't great, but you pay for what you get, and it wasn't bad. They had quite a variety too, which is what is most important in buffets. We actually went back twice, haha.

Meet Up with Jeremy 6
Hello and welcome back to another episode of Meet Ups With Jeremy... the last time we touched base was a surprisingly long time ago, the end of last year! This time, though, unlike all the previous catch ups we had, it wasn't just the two of us. Jeremy brought along Fiona, his girlfriend, and we both invited Jacklyn to third wheel with me. We had dinner at Brunch Club & Supper in Causeway Bay, one of my all time favourite eateries for brunch food.

Cherry's Farewell Dinner at Minh & Kok
We were all going our separate ways after our Year-out jobs, and the first to fly was Cherry. Apart from Clar and I, everyone else in our group of friends were going overseas for their Masters studies. Feels so strange to be together 24/7 one second, then suddenly you're halfway across the world from your closest friends. Anyway, after going to Lai Yuen in the afternoon, I dropped by the dentist's then went back to Causeway Bay to meet the group for dinner at Minh & Kok! The food tasted great and wasn't too expensive, which I thought it would be, so that was nice (btw, we ordered more than what I managed to take pictures of). We finished off the night with drinks in Beirut Restaurant & Bar afterwards to a teary farewell - not. Haha, we're not a very emotional slash expressive bunch.

Lai Yuen Super Summer 2015
After my super-fail Lai Yuen visit a month ago, I returned in August with Jason. Officially named lai Yuen Super Summer 2015, it took place at the exact same location as the horrendous FUZE tea x Afternoon Market... so yes, you guessed it - once again, disaster struck in the form of Hong Kong's hot and humid weather. Man, I was sweating balls, I kid you not. My face was actually dripping with sweat. Otherwise, it was a nice afternoon with plenty of things to see in the carnival, and the free entry was a bonus too.

Freespace Happening August 2015
From the organisers of Freespace Fest comes Freespace Happening, a series of small Freespace Fests once a month. I was really looking forward to this year's Freespace Fest actually because I wanted to help my Mum sell all her vintage earrings, but it didn't seem like it was returning this year... darn it, why, just when I actually wanted to get rid of my old stuff?
Clar and I went to August's Freespace Happening - also the first ever one - the day after the FUZE tea x Afternoon Market. Needless to say, after the ridiculous weather the day before, I was scared shitless about the heat that day too. I was so nervous I even told Clar that it was okay if she didn't feel like going, kind of hoping she'd agree with me, but she insisted so we went.
The weather was actually okay! I think the temperature cooled slightly and the West Kowloon location is a lot more spacious than New Central Harbourfront. Not sure about the amount of people but at least Freespace Happening took place over a large area and by the windy sea breeze!

FUZE tea x Afternoon Market
8th August was the hottest day recorded so far in Hong Kong in 2015, and Mum and I picked that day to go to the FUZE tea x Afternoon Market aka FUSION午後市集 stupidly. It was held in Tamar Park and omg, if you know me, or maybe I've mentioned it online, but I never get hot. Like I'm literally an ice cold pillar even during the hot and humid Hong Kong summer. But during this handicraft market... I was literally drenched in sweat. My Mum and I nearly died, and so did everyone else in the market. I even had to use an electric fan and I never use those! My make up literally melted off my face, but luckily, everyone there was like that so it didn't really matter anyway.
As a bonus I've also included photos from my dinner with Mum at Applegreen in Tsim Sha Tsui a few days before the market, because I'm not sure where to put those, haha. I love Applegreen, it's one of my renewed favourites! I'm so sad I didn't have it more often before their Causeway Bay branch closed down, because going all the way across the harbour costs so freakin' much!

A Quick Picnic at Tamar Park
Hadn't gone picnicking with Jason for a while, and I don't think at all this year. Last year, we went a two times, once in Tamar Park and once in Cyberport. He wanted to go to the really hidden park in Jordan that has been booming with popularity as a picnic location with the Hong Kong population lately, but we were short on time the particular Thursday we chose to picnic, so we went back to the ever-so-convenient Tamar Park instead.
